The Power ⚡ of Experience

Trust is a huge thing in coaching…Coaches are great people, let’s be honest. They come from all different backgrounds, with different levels of knowledge, styles and varying ideas of what is the right way to coach.I’ve been lucky in my career to have the input from some amazing coaches, people who I put my trust in and they always gave me everything.

What sets some coaches aside from others is experience. It doesn’t have to be top level competition experience but a prolonged time in the sport, any sport, brings with it wisdom that you can’t learn from a book or from a coaching course. This wisdom is built over many years…. What to look out for in a training plan, how to tweak things to match a goal or aim, how to get the best out of someone by analysing their strengths and weaknesses.

Experience brings reassurance, where an athlete knows that their coach has walked or ran in their shoes, they know that feeling. In my coaching, I think about each stage of my career, from turning talent into results and from making mistakes into success… experience looks past the numbers and data and adds a human touch to it.

We can all read books, study literature on running and attend coaching courses but what really matters is how efficiently you get an athlete from A to B. Long before social media and AI came along, coaches lived in a world of secrecy and mystery. Nowadays you can access training from the comfort of your own arm chair, see what everyone else is doing and set yourself a plan but how effective this is depends on how disciplined you are.

In our coaching, we work with athletes on a daily basis, Communication is great and we respond to everything, from niggles to race tapering, target races to work commitments.

Training built around the athlete by an athlete who can respond to each concern, every high and low and every challenge.. celebrating success and evaluating failure in equal measure. Experience is worth it’s weight in 🥇…

Coaches are great, we all need one ⚡💪🏼

Who is yours? 😎
